iPad Mini Rumor Roundup

The iPad Mini is the name we have given a miniature tablet that has yet to come out yet, that Apple will more then likely announce later this month. Below is a list of our predictions and other blogs predictions on what we may see with the new iPad “mini”.

Dates!!!

These dates are rumored popularly by popular blogs that have been legit in the past about dates. Again, these are rumored dates!

  • Invitations for the event will be sent out October 10th 2012
  • Event will take place on the 17th
  • The product will be released around the first half of November, just in time for the holidays!

The Looks!

  • Right about now we are all pretty much assuming that the tablet will simply be a “nurfted” version on the current iPad. More then likely the iPad Mini will feature an aluminum back like we see on Macs and current iPad models.

The screen

  • Because the tablet is supposed to be cheaper, we have allot of reason to believe that it will not feature a full retina screen. Don’t get me wrong, it is possible but, I think it’ll feature iPad 2 graphics. I also think that it will be a 4:3 ratio like all the iPads have been so far. Reason being is because if they went 16:9 they probably wouldn’t be able to use the new 16:9 screens they have on the iPhone 5 and iPod Touch 5th generation because that is far more expensive. Making it the size of a previous iPad version will make it easier on developers and allow the tablet to maintain an affordable price point.
  • We are expecting it to be 7 to 8 inches. More specifically predicted 7.85 inches.

Speaking of prices

  • Rumors are saying that the iPad mini will start at about $250 or at least somewhere between $200 to $300. If Apple wants to be able to compete with the Kindle and Nexus tablets, they better have a decent price.

The internals

  • More then likely we will see the A5 chip with  512MB of RAM.
  • Part leaks have also shown nano sim cards pointing towards possible carrier and WiFi versions.
  • Not much is known at this time and it is harder to predict given this would be a 1st gen device.

Cameras

  • More then likely front and back facing cameras.
  • No major reliable details at this point. Possible HD camera, possible half ass camera. Who knows.

Lightning!!

  • The iPhone 5 and iPod Touch 5th gen now have the smaller, faster, stronger lightning port. So, why wouldn’t the iPad Mini have it as well?!

Samsung Sues Apple’s iPhone 5 for… Something?

None of us could have ever predicted that Samsung would try to sue Apple because its new iPhone 5…. Cough* cough*. They sure did. It appears Samsung is still a tad bit mad that they owe Apple over $1 billion.

Samsung Electronics said on Tuesday that it filed a new lawsuit against Apple Inc in a U.S. court, contending the iPhone 5 infringed on Samsung’s patents.

In a statement, Samsung said: “…we have little choice but to take the steps necessary to protect our innovations and intellectual property rights.”

My favorite part was the  “…we have little choice but to take the steps necessary to protect our innovations and intellectual property rights.” Its like a bunch of teenagers going against a professional adult.

Lets face it, every time any of these two companies do anything. They will sue each other. Surprise?

Samsung Airs 2 New Ads Bashing Apple

Samsung has been the company lately that has been nothing but ballsy towards Apple. Apple is big in the tech community and Samsung has been at them with a good amount of commercials bashing the people that wait in line for the new iPhone. Its kind of funny because people already picked up their iPhone despite the commercials and broke sales records big time.

Either way, some Apple fans tend to get mad at these commercials. Just take it as a good laugh because it is kind of funny.

This new Apple iPhone 5 commercial is all about the feel of the phone and the ability to comfortably use the device that is designed around your thumbs reach.

Apple Due to Replace Broken iPhone 5 Screens in Store

Have you ever broken your iPhone screen and had to ship it out to Apple or swap it for a new or refurbished iPhone? Well, turns out sources from iMore are now reporting that Apple has shipped out supplies to retail stores around the word to repair the iPhone 5 screen. Obviously we are thinking, in stores. The screen is by far the most popular part to break on the iPhone, it’d be great to be able to walk into a store and be able to hand your device to an Apple employee and get it repaired right in front of you. No information has been released as to whether or not this will be a part of the Apple warranty. But, I assume it’ll be much cheaper then buying a new iPhone.

iMore’s sources say

iMore has learned from sources within Apple retail that broken iPhone 5 displays may soon be getting replaced in-store. This would be a change from Apple’s current iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 practice, which consisted of swapping the entire iPhone out for a new or refurbished one. Sources within Apple retail have told us that equipment used to remove the screens has started appearing in their stores.

This is not confirmed but, considering iMore’s amazing history with their sources within Apple retail. I have absolutely no reason to not believe this information.

Apple Responds to New iOS 6 Maps App Haters

iOS 6 was released yesterday and within the first 24 hours 15% of all iOS 6 compatible devices have been updated. 15% within the first 24 hours is a large percentage of individuals. With that, map users are discovering that Google Maps is no longer the default map app on iOS. Some have been ticked at Apple because of the few features and cons that the new Apple maps has compared to the previous Google Maps app.

Apple responds to complaints –

“Customers around the world are upgrading to iOS 6 with over 200 new features including Apple Maps, our first map service. We are excited to offer this service with innovative new features like Flyover, turn by turn navigation, and Siri integration. We launched this new map service knowing it is a major initiative and that we are just getting started with it. Maps is a cloud-based solution and the more people use it, the better it will get. We appreciate all of the customer feedback and are working hard to make the customer experience even better.”

I feel like Apple should have done some more work on their new maps service before they launched it to the public but, I assume Apple will make map updates throughout the next couple of months to make the experience for the users better. Of course, the hate mail actually helps them. While some I assume are overly harsh, it helps Apple to discover things that they can do to further update their first ever maps service. I am sure Apple will make the app better and better over time.
